Advice & Information

Drop-In Advice, Advocacy and Information Service provision

BMCS has continued to be a trusted first point of contact for those seeking advice, advocacy and information. The total number of people who contacted BMCS during the period April 2010 to March 2011 was 2,801. In addition, 70% of these contacts were from the BME communities and 44% of those who contacted us were female. In total, a phenomenal number of 14,082 users benefited from BMCS services including the 3,749 from our Cultural Awareness programme.

BMCS has continued to increase the number of female service users as part of our organisational strategy. The number of service users that are male and female is almost equal; 1566 male and 1235 female.

This is a phenomenal achievement for the staff of BMCS, especially considering that a decade ago, BMCS was very much a male dominated organisation.
