Format of the event:
In the business of modern life finding a suitable spouse can be a challenge. We appreciate that meeting a potential spouse can be awkward for some. Some of us may be too bashful to even approach someone through an app. To accommodate everyone and overcome the awkwardness of approaching a potential spouse we have taken a back-to-basics approachwith our event. At this event our volunteer Messengers will be on hand to approach someone on your behalf.
There will be a short introduction by the event organiser who will explain in more detail how the event works.
After an initial short reminder, we will have one or two very informal short discussions around two chosen topics.
After this there will be a chance to speak to potential spouses.
How will this work?
There will be short introductory profiles displayed for you to view. These will contain basic information about what you are looking for in a spouse, what you can offer, your level of Islam, age, profession etc. This will be the profile you will fill in when registering for the event.
Women’s profiles will be available on display to read on the men’s side of the hall and conversely men’s profiles available to read on the women’s side of the hall. Everyone will be allocated a profile number, e.g S26 or B45 etc.
On arrival and registration, you will be given a badge or label with your profile number on it that you can display on your person throughout the event. This will be used to identify you if you wish to speak to someone or if someone wishes to speak to you.
If you would like to speak to a potential interest whom you feel you may be compatible with, then you can approach one of our volunteer messengers and they will approach the potential interest on your behalf and ask them if you would be interested in speaking to the other person.
If your potential interest confirms they are interested in speaking you will have a chance to speak to them one to one in a separate open area on separate chairs / table in an open area for 15 minutes. You are welcome to have a chaperone with you for this part. You can exchange numbers or emails at this stage if you both feel you may be compatible and wish to discuss things further.
If the other person declines and says they are not interested in a one to one, then our volunteer messenger will let you know.
We will keep everyone’s records for one month after the event. After this all records will be deleted. If you feel you did not get a chance to speak to someone on the day and wished to contact them afterwards you can email: bristolmarriages@gmail.com and we will contact them on your behalf. Please note this will only be possible if you have made a note of their Profile Number. If they agree to be contacted, we will share their email address with you. If they decline, we will let you know.
